Military Assistance Mission is proud to announce a new program for our Veterans and Reserve Service Members.

The GI Gap Grant (GIGG) is a program that helps Transitioning Active Duty and Reserve Service Members when they begin college after service. When you start school there is always a gap between the time you start and the time you first receive funds for your Post 911 GI Bill or your GI Bill. We understand that hardships can happen and MAM is here to help.

  • Mortgage

  • Utilities

  • Car Payment

  • Car Insurance

  • Food


Who can benefit from the program

Veterans  

  • Must be an Arizona resident for a minimum of one year

  • Must be attending an Arizona GI Bill qualified school full time
    (university, trade schools, etc.)

  • Must have Military ID or State ID

  • Must have served post 9/11

  • Must supply DD214

  • Income level must be lower than $40K annually combined with spouse

Reserve-Active Duty

  • Must have Orders

  • Must provide recent LES

  • Must have Military ID

  • Must be an Arizona service member

  • Must be attending an Arizona GI Bill qualified school full time
    (university, trade schools, etc.)

  • Must be Arizona resident

  • Must be rank E-5 or below

  • Income level must be lower than $40K annually combined with spouse

  • If applicant has a civilian job pay stub MUST be submitted

  • If married spouse pay stub MUST be submitted


All current Arizona Veterans or Reserve Service Members may be eligible for a one time assistance through MAM. This assistance is in the form of grants to help in your transition from service member to student.

Applicant must provide school invoice.

Reservist must be able to show status in the form of Military ID, LES or Orders. You must be an Arizona Reservist living in Arizona.

All applicants must show proof of household income, disability benefits and VA benefits.

All applicants must be honorably discharged from their respected branch of service.

In order to process an application all information must be present including copies of bills and documents.
The Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Chapter 31) program does not qualify for the GIGG program.

Applications will be processed during business hours (Tuesday-Friday: 8AM-3PM). All applications submitted outside normal business hours will be processed immediately on MAM’s next business day.

 

*This is for transitioning service members that are starting school after service and are using their Post 9/11 GI Bill or GI Bill for the first time
